I am going to share the secret of how to stay fit over the holidays. If your goal is to lose fat and stay in shape while everyone else is gaining flab this holiday season then this is the article that will show you how. 1. Cut down on your exercise time and increase your fat burning. It seems sensible that if you want to burn more fat during a workout you should work out longer. The problem is if you workout for too long your body stops burning fat for energy and starts burning muscle.

The key is to boost your fat burning metabolism by using peaks of high intensity. By constantly moving between periods of low intensity and periods of full out maximum intensity you stimulate your metabolism and it stays high for up to 24 hours after your workout. And oh yeah, I forgot to mention these results come after only 20 minutes!

2. Add 20-30 minutes of resistance training 3 days a week. On the opposite days when you are not using the high intensity cardio routine above you want to do resistance training – i.e. working out with weights. The amount of muscle you have is a big factor in how well your metabolism runs, basically the more muscle you have the more calories you burn and the more fat you lose.

3. Use your favorite foods to boost your metabolism. This is my favorite holiday tip and I bet it will be yours as well. Prevent your metabolism from dropping by making your holiday meal a scheduled cheat day.

Simply diet strictly for 6 days before your holiday party and then take the party day off and enjoy all your favorite foods. This is not some crazy idea, in fact adding a high calorie meal in order to boost your fat burning metabolism has been highly researched and used successfully by thousands of real life dieters and it will work for you.

    We are so accustomed to eating 3 big meals a day that it is difficult to get out of the mindset but cutting down on the sizes of the 3 meals and adding healthy snack in between really helps to burn fat quickly. An ideal day of meals should look like 3 small meals and 2 snacks, a third snack could be added after dinner but no food should be eaten 2 hours before bedtime.
