I Want It Now!

Remember that little girl from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory that yelled I Want It Now!

I’ve always been a bit like that with, well, with just about everything. Patience is one thing I still need to work on. I was thinking about the “I want it now” thoughts we have with weight loss.

After a lifetime of dieting, fasting, pills, and other unhealthy things I thought would help me lose weight, I still went in to each diet thinking how quick can I lose this weight? I wanted it off Now!

I just knew life would get so much better after I lost the weight. I thought the weight was stopping me from being happy. The truth is I was stopping myself from being happy.

I started feeling happier and more content with my life when I decided to choose happiness. When I wake up each morning I think to myself I am going to be in a good mood today and happy. In the past when I woke up I would get up and wait for something to happen and let that decide my mood.

You can have happiness right now if you decide to choose that emotion for the day.

You can choose to be happy on the journey to better health and realize you didn’t gain all of the weight overnight and you won’t lose it overnight. You can yell, I want it now, but it won’t work with weight loss.

If you start today in hopes of quick weight loss, on a diet with rules that are making you miserable because you know it’s going to be so hard for you to wake up each morning and drink a gross tasting shake how long do you think you will stick to it? Not long! You will feel punished and deprived and so would I. Those diets would send me binging for days or longer.

Then the hunt would begin for the next diet that would promise me I could have quick weight loss and my life would perfect by purchasing their diet for a small price of $29.99 I could lose weight fast, look like I was 20 (even though I’m 48) and my life would be perfect.

I want to tell you what you really can have right now.

Right now you can choose to be happy and choose to focus on your health. It’s your choice. You can choose to start a new journey today. One that will treat you with love, compassion and forgiveness and give you better health from the inside out. You won’t lose the weight overnight. There will be bumps in the road, but you will learn from them and they will only make you stronger. All you have to do is take that first step and add in something positive today.

That’s all you have to do to get started. Have a healthy breakfast today and you have succeeded or go for a walk or tell yourself you are beautiful. It doesn’t matter what you do, just do 1 positive thing today.

Isn’t it sad that it feels wrong if we aren’t taking things from ourselves and punishing ourselves. We deserve so much more than that!

Please believe in yourself and believe you deserve to be healthy and happy because you do.

I Believe in you and I Believe you can do this! You just need to believe it too!

How to Lose Weight After Christmas and the Holiday Season

Now the holiday season is almost upon us many people will be worrying about how much weight they are going to put on and will want to know how to lose weight after Christmas and the holiday season. There are so many temptations at this time of year, all those yummy mince pies and Christmas puddings, not to mention the Christmas cake and all those well meaning, but naughty presents of delicious boxes of chocolates. They are so hard to resist!

But why should you resist? You have worked so hard during the year and you deserve some treats! Depriving yourself of treats all the time will only make you feel bad and lead to cravings. In the end you will give in to these cravings and overindulge in them. So don’t be too hard on yourself. Just relax the rules for the holiday period, let go and enjoy yourself. There is no need to go mad, but a few treats are not going to do too much damage and as long as you make sure to get some exercise, like going for a nice walk after dinner, you will be just fine.

After the holiday season is over here are some simple weight loss tips to help you get back on track:

1. Never skip breakfast Eating breakfast will help maintain your energy levels and avoid the hunger pangs that could lead you to eat those chocolate bars, crisps and fizzy cola drinks. If you do not feel hungry enough for breakfast in the morning it is probably because you have eaten too much for dinner. Try eating smaller meals for dinner as this will make you feel more hungry in the morning. Eating 3 well balanced meals a day (including breakfast) at regularly intervals will help you to feel full and satisfied and avoid the temptation to eat between meals. It will also help speed up your metabolism.

2. Eat more high fibre food Wholemeal bread, brown rice, wholewheat pasta and wholegrain cereals are all high in fibre. Also fresh and dried fruit, vegetables, peas, beans and lentils as well as seeds and nuts. Foods that are high in fibre usually take longer to chew, so this will slow down your eating and help you enjoy your food more. High fibre food takes longer to digest so it stays longer in the stomach and will help to make you feel full up for longer.

3. Take regular exercise Taking regular exercise will help with your weight loss plan. It does not have to be anything too strenuous. Something simple like walking will help. Try leaving the car at home and taking the bus to work. Get off one stop before your normal bus stop and walk the extra distance. Take a walk during your lunch break, even if it is just taking a walk around the shops and doing some window shopping. Walk up the stairs instead of taking the lift. Maybe try some aerobic exercises, but be sure to warm up first, start off slowly and build up gradually.

When Low Self Esteem Leads to Intractable Obesity

Obesity has become one of the of the more challenging of health conditions around the world. Although there are many approaches to dealing with it few, in my view, ever address its unconscious driving forces; poor self image and low self esteem. These two emotional factors initiate and perpetuate the tendency towards obesity.

They are also exacerbated by the condition thereby setting up a vicious negative spiral from which many find it impossible to extricate themselves. Doing so means having the courage to face the deeper emotional roots of poor self image and low self esteem and permanently release them from the unconscious mind and body. So what are these deeper emotional roots?

Well, this is akin to asking why anyone would ever have a poor self image or low self esteem. Many of you might think it’s because of all of those societal messages that subtly and not so subtly invalidate your inherent attractiveness as a human being. Well here you would only be partly correct. The problem actually began well before you were ever exposed to those messages.

You see, many individuals, carry negative memories from early life in the unconscious mind that they identify with and with which are associated negative messages about who and how attractive they are. These memories consist of traumatic events as seen through the eyes of a child that essentially leaves them feeling unwanted, unloved, neglected, bad, ignored, invalidated, defective, deficient, inadequate, useless, and ugly and so on.

Worst of all when an individual complacently accepts as truth and identifies with these internally stored messages they are left with no other option but to dislike who and what they are. Negative feelings of low self esteem, poor self image and low self worth become constant painful internal emotional threats that must be parried and pacified in order to feel comfortable, at ease and peaceful.

The need to keep these painful feelings at bay leads to the adoption of numerous strategies, i.e. often classified as addictions, all of which attempt to suppress, bury or distract one’s self from feeling and becoming incapacitated by the negative feelings. The individual who learns to use food as a pacifier at an early age may continue this compensatory approach to the internal pain eventually culminating in obesity.

This strategy which attempts to bury emotional discomfort also leads to a partial desensitization to the physical discomfort of the obese condition itself. The awareness of this discomfort which is supposed to act as a self regulatory mechanism then fails. Sadly the approach to coping with the emotional turmoil is also untenable because the emotions don’t go away they only go underground temporarily. What’s more they become accentuated by the emotional repercussion of being obese.

So the individual is faced with a growing onslaught of negative emotions as well as the health problems of the obesity that result. So what is the solution to breaking this cycle?

Well it becomes imperative to completely erase the original early unconsciously stored negative memories behaving as what I call “emotional landmines” and which drive the internal emotional turmoil. In other words one must permanently diffuse the negative emotional charge that emanates from these memories. The only way to do that is to completely eradicate the memories themselves. So what does that mean?

Well it effectively means one must effectively “erase the past” as it is stored in the person’s consciousness. Although there are many modalities that attempt to simply decrease the emotional charge of such negative memories it has been my experience that that alone will not yield permanent results. It’s much like the metaphor of the weed growing in the garden, unless one pulls it from the root it will simply re-grow.

Over 10 years ago while working as a psychiatrist I learned this sad fact and it completely changed my view of many of the “therapies” I had been employing until then. It also sprouted a powerful new insight as to how one could completely and permanently erase negative memories from the mind/body. This new insight evolved into a powerful new coaching modality that is able to challenge many of the beliefs we have about why the past cannot be erased.

It turns out that negative memories, while stored in a person’s mind/body tend to deplete them of what I call their Life Force Energy. This is experienced in many ways but one of note is a deep feeling of emptiness that individuals desperately need to fill in order to avoid feeling like they are going to fragment or disintegrate emotionally. Individuals with obesity simply happen to choose food as their solution to this inner feeling of emptiness.

Unfortunately the only thing that will fill it is their depleted Life Force Energy. It turns out that this process as it erases the offending negative memories from the mind/body it causes a spontaneous return of this vital energy to that mind/body. The individual experiences this as feelings of wholeness and completeness. In other words the driving force for all the over eating disappears thus breaking the cycle.

Now, I must give a simple word of caution here. This process, albeit simple and straightforward doesn’t happen all at once rather it is an evolutionary journey to wellbeing and happiness. This is because such individuals often have many negative memories of early life that must be erased. So in effect what is experienced is a progressive accumulation of self empowerment, self esteem, enhanced awareness and self control. As they begin to feel “filled in emotionally” their need to fill themselves with food externally disappears.

But what they try to do to pull themselves out of the slump is continually motivate themselves and apply discipline and fidelity in carrying out their plans. Diet and exercise do work. But it is only with commitment that they provide results. Yes, we may not be created equal. Some may have a slower metabolism, a bigger bone structure, or more fat to burn. When Eating Can Be Bad For Your Well-Being

Eating is a wonderful activity that is both pleasurable and is often enjoyed as part of a social activity. Eating the right food refuels our body with that vital nutrients that our body requires so that we have the physical energy to carry out the activities in our professional and personal life and maintain a level of overall well-being.

However, eating does not always lead to well-being. Many of the food in our modern day diet contains empty calories as a result of processing, saturated fats and additives like sugar. Also, many people, especially working adults lead stressful, sedentary and desk bound lifestyle and maintains low to moderate level of exercise that is insufficient to burn the extra calories they ingest from food and regulate the stress that builds up in their systems. Left unchecked over time, this can lead to serious weight and health issues that can adversely impact their overall health.

Overeating also affects your well-being. Under stress, some people actually turn to food for emotional comfort to dull their pain from a myriad of problems – from unhappy divorce, stress experience in the workplace to stress from school and relationship problems. These people find that eating can alleviate some of the pain experienced. And they are right. Eating releases beta-endorphin, a natural opiate produced by our pituitary gland that can reduce stress and pain. For some people, this becomes a vicious cycle – the more they eat, the better they feel as a result of the beta-endorphin, and that causes them to eat even more. Now that you understand the effects that eating has on our well-being, try to be more aware of the types of food that you take and how your body is reacting to food. Keep a log of the food that you eat for each meal this week. Consult a nutritionist or do some research online to see if these foods contain empty calories. Adjust your diet if you are eating too many empty calories. When you have a craving for food, ask yourself honestly if it is due to hunger, which is a normal biological need, or if it is due to other motivations, like the ones mentioned in this article. a. Big results require big effort: The faster you want to lose weight the more you must be willing to put in. The best way to lose weight fast and safely is to set realistic targets for yourself depending on how much effort you can put in, don’t get carried away by the infomercials.

b. Set up a weight loss plan: The regular recommendation of low starch, sugar and animal fats applies. Your diet should mostly consist of fruits, vegetables, fish, skimmed milk/dairy products, lean (meaning without saturated fat) meats etc. You can also consult a physician for setting up a diet program for you.

c. Motivate yourself: You must motivate yourself everyday for the same reason you must bathe everyday; it just doesn’t last! Make it a point to motivate yourself before you set out to accomplish that day’s target. It helps, big time!

d. Seek professional help: This can cost you a bit I am sure the results you will get will justify it. Make sure to get “recommended help” and not just any help.

Obesity is rapidly becoming one of the greatest health challenges of the 21st century. No disease is more common and causes more unnecessary illness or early death than obesity.  Furthermore there is no other single problem that so reduces the quality of life or increases the demand for healthcare services

The problem is worldwide.  In the United States, more than two of every three adults are overweight and about one in three is obese  This means that approximately 60 million people have the disease of obesity in the United States alone.  More than one in five Australian adults, an estimated 2.6 million of a population of 20 million, are obese.  For both countries, the incidence of obesity has doubled since 1980.  Alarmingly, obesity starts in childhood and already 7% of our teenagers are obese.

Around the world, all countries have a growing problem.  There are now an estimated 300 million people around the world who are suffering from obesity and its consequences.  In both developed and developing nations, a similar pattern is occurring.  In Russia, 54% of adults are overweight.  In Brazil, the figure is 36%, and in Malaysia, 27%.  Even China has a developing problem.  A recent survey of adults in urban Shanghai reported that 29.5% were overweight and 4.3% were obese.

After millions of years of evolution we carry a genetic structure designed to enable us to survive the life of the hunter-gatherer, but our health and our lives are now threatened by a lifestyle characterized by ready access to copious amounts of attractive food and very little need for physical activity.  Foods high in fat, carbohydrates and, in particular, simple sugars, are booming.  The US Department of Agriculture reports that the US per capita intake of sugar was 152.4 lb (69 kg) in 2000.  This is equal to nearly half a pound (230 g) of sugar per person each day.  Most people will claim that they are not eating that much sugar.  However, sugar is now a part of so many foods that we don’t even realize that we are eating it.  Sugar has infiltrated out diet to a frightening extent.  One hundred years ago, the sugar intake per capita was only 0.5lb (230 g).  Is it any wonder that we have a [http://www.trueresults.com]problem with obesity?
