“Can you imagine a world where everyone was honest all the time? Not the ‘say whatever you’re thinking’ kind of honesty, but the simply sincere kind. Genuine. Free. You would never have to worry if your friend was secretly mad at you, or your boss disappointed. People would like you for you, not for the Phantom of the Opera mask you wear outside, concealing the side you’re afraid to show.” These are the words Kira Newman used to describe her informal study on honesty.  Every week people in the program reported on their honesty rating for the week. She’s going to tell us what they said and what she discovered. In the meantime, think about how honest you are—with yourself and others.

 Kira M. Newman is the founder of the Honesty Experiment, a 30-day challenge where people commit to being honest with themselves and others.
