 Donnie Tash, a psychotherapist, was a reluctant psychic. Emerging from a coma after surgical complications, he had abilities he had never had before. Diana M. Raab, MFA, RN was born in Brooklyn, New York and received her undergraduate degree in Health Administration and Journalism in 1976. A few years later she received her RN degree. After 25 years as a medical and self-help writer, she’s directed her creative energy towards nonfiction and memoir writing. In 2003 she earned her MFA in Writing from Spalding University. She is the author of eight books. Her most recent release, Healing With Words: A Writer’s Cancer Journey (2010) is a memoir/self-help book which includes reflections, experiences, journal entries and poems all emphasizing the healing power of writing. Currently, she teaches creative journaling and memoir in UCLA Extension Writers’ Program. She facilitates workshops in journaling and writing for healing around the country and is a frequent moderator for panels on writing. Raab’s award-winning work has been published in numerous literary magazines and is widely anthologized.

Show Description:Diana Raab wrote a very brave book about her experience with breast cancer laying bare her feelings about her experience from diagnosis through reconstructive surgery. As a writer, she found that journaling helped her with the ordeal. and she wants to help other women learn to use this tool of journaling to help them cope with their own challenges of winning over this dreaded diagnosis. Diana states: “Journaling provides a saafe haven and platform to validate and express your feelings. I view journaling to be like a daily vitamin – as it heals, detoxifies and is essential for optimal health. As an author, nurse, journaling advocate and cancer survivor I am a true believer.” We will discuss not only  her journey but how women everywhere can benefit from what she learned and how she used journaling as a therapeutic tool. And if we’re lucky she’ll share some of her lovely poetry with us. Women everywhere, and men who care about them, need to hear what Diana has to say.
