The Biology of Inspiration

By Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. -

While I hold a vision of a wholesome future, we are currently confronted with a crisis of global proportions. Scientists have determined that Earth’s biosphere is in the throes of experiencing its sixth mass extinction. Five previous mass extinctions, each of which almost wiped out life on the planet, are attributed to extraterrestrial forces such as comets or asteroids hitting the earth. The current extinction is driven by forces much closer to home, for it is recognized that human civilization is the primary cause behind the current crisis.

For over four hundred years, Western civilization has chosen Science as its source of truths and wisdom about the mysteries of life. Allegorically, we may picture the wisdom of the universe as resembling a large mountain. We scale the mountain as we acquire knowledge. Our drive to reach the top of that mountain is fueled by the notion that with knowledge, we may become “masters” of our universe. Conjure the image of the all-knowing guru seated atop the mountain.

The path that Science is currently navigating has inadvertently brought us to our current moment of global crisis.

The first half of Modern Science was preoccupied with reducing our world to separate bits and pieces. These efforts have provided information that has enabled humans to look out into the deepest regions of the universe and peer into the inner workings of a single atom. While the technology derived from reductionist science is miraculous in its nature, our use of it is destroying our civilization.

New science recognizes that life is more than the study of its individual parts. The revised curriculum balances our historic reductionist perspective with the evolving concepts of holism. By focusing on the power of interactive, autopoetic communities, whether they are comprised of energy waves, chemicals, cells or humans, we will be able to realize the peace inherent in our oneness.

As human beings engaged in the great work of re-creating our selves, our species and our planet, our mission is to seek creative responses to the challenges before us. Traditionally, reductionist science has sought resolutions by delving deeper into the material fabric of nature. In contrast, new science directs our attention to the heretofore-invisible matrix of entangled immaterial forces that shape and energize our world. Our holistic pursuit compels us to pull back from studying the trees, and own the scope and magnitude of the forest. From that perspective, we are obliged to recognize the power Noetic Consciousness plays in shaping our lives, our world and our challenges. This new life-sustaining awareness echoes the words of physicist R. C. Henry in his recent essay in Nature, “The Universe is immaterial–mental and spiritual. Live and enjoy.” (Henry, 2005)

Energy Medicine – Hype or Real?

By Shannon Nelson -

“Your daughter will never walk again”. When my mother heard those words from the neurologist at Maine Medical Center, she fainted. She was still mourning the death of her beloved husband, Bob, who had died just two months earlier after a long battle with colon cancer.

When she received the call from my friend Tiffany, informing her that I had an accident, she immediately assumed that it was something minor. She was used to me getting injured from playing soccer throughout high school. Nothing could have prepared her for something like this.

I went through the typical stages of grief after such a dramatic, life-changing event. At first I was in denial; then I was angry (mostly with myself), and finally I was depressed but resigned to my new life.

After coming to terms with my accident, I had a few years of relatively good health, with no complications typical of people in my condition. This all changed in late 1999. I developed serious health problems (including recurrent bladder infections and severe lower-back pain.)

Tired of my constant visits to the emergency room, and following my doctor’s advice, I had bladder surgery. I would love to say that that put an end to my health problems, but nothing could be further from the truth. The pain persisted to the point where I was no longer able to get up in my wheelchair. I was completely bedridden and deeply depressed.

Throughout the following years I was prescribed many different pain medications and anti-depressants. The side effects were horrible beyond words. I was barely able to function, and I was constantly dizzy, tired, and nauseous.

During this period of time I kept putting my faith in the next magic pill, and the next one, and the next one. Only to be disappointed time and time again. The spinal cord specialist in charge of my case finally told me that there was absolutely nothing else that could be done for me and that I should learn to live with pain. That was the final blow for me; it meant that all I had to look forward to was more pain. I gave up all hope. I was emotionally and physically exhausted.

In early 2007 I read an amazingly informative book called “The Biology of Belief” by Dr. Bruce H. Lipton (a world-renowned cellular biologist), which helped me understand–from a scientific point of view–that our thoughts create our feelings and our feelings create our health. Despite all of the scientific evidence presented in Dr. Lipton’s book, I was still somewhat skeptical; but I decided to ignore my skepticism and hang on to my new found hope. I was then introduced to energy medicine. I put some of the techniques to the test with the help of a friend, and I was astonished… how could something so simple be that effective?

I am not going to tell you that you can get rid of physical and/or emotional pain overnight with energy medicine and/or energy psychology, it is a process; but I can share with you how it is helping me. Before energy medicine and energy psychology, I was taking a powerful prescription pain medication three times a day–which provided only partial and temporary relief. After a few months of applying EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and other forms of energy medicine–such as Reiki–on a regular basis, I gradually stopped taking pain medications and anti-depressants altogether. And I am happy to report that, as I write this article, I am no longer in constant pain, and I am neither bedridden nor depressed. In fact, I am actually taking adult education classes in order to prepare myself to join the work-force once again. My plans for next year also include mentoring children.

In no way am I suggesting that you should replace your medications and/or medical treatments with energy medicine or energy psychology. I actually owe my life to modern medicine. I would not have survived breaking my neck in a country without cutting-edge treatment for spinal cord related injuries. What I am suggesting is that you don’t have to give up when traditional medicine doesn’t seem to be helping. There is a place for every form of healing.

While I still have break-through pain every once in a while, I no longer feel like a victim. I now know that virtually every physical ailment is the result of unresolved emotional trauma. I am currently working on my own list of unresolved emotional issues, one at a time. The more closure I bring to an old issue, the better I feel. I strongly believe that forgiveness played a crucial role in my recovery.

It is now my mission to reach out to people that are experiencing despair due to health problems, especially chronic pain and depression. I was once there myself, and I can completely identify. Whether you are suffering from physical or emotional pain, or you know someone that is going through a similar situation, I would like to invite you to join me in this journey.

I truly hope that through http://www.hotchocolateforthespirit.com I will create a community of people willing to share their experiences to help others, and also to find desperately needed help, information, inspiration and support.

Now that I found meaning to my years of suffering, I understand that everything happens for a reason.

A Portrait of a Remarkable Woman

Kammpic

By Irene Conlan -

I met Laura Kamm in 1997 or 1998 – my memory fails me as to an exact date. I saw an ad  in a holistic publication in Phoenix and knew that I needed to see her. She was a medical intuitive and worked with energy and I was drawn to like a metal chip is drawn to a magnet. Not only did she do some remarkable healing  work with me, but we became close friends and have remained friends ever since even though we are a country apart now that she lives in Florida and I remain in Arizona.

While she has always been very intuitive, Laura had a near death experience that left her with some remarkable gifts of intuition and the  ability to discern what is happening in the body. She authored Intuitive wellness:Using your body’s inner wisdom to heal which is now in its second printing (or perhaps more). It tells her amazing story and leads the reader to a greater understanding of energy and how they can use their own energy more effectively. She also has a number of CDs that she has recorded related to the body’s energy. She also has her own radio show – but you can read about that if you go to her website. Kamm bookhttp://www.energymedicine.org/ //www.energymedicine.org/

She has been in town for the last few weeks and the other day we had a visit and some tea at The Coffee Plantation in Scottsdale – it’s always non stop talk when we have a chance to get together.  The wonderful thing about Laura is that even though she changes she hasn’t changed. Even though she is a sought out healer, speaker and medical intuitive she still is the warm, down-to-earth, caring Laura I have know for all these years. In this age of so much phoniness, it is refrshing to know someone who is real.  Laura is very real.

According to her website she has created a “revolutionary online program for you to take control of your wellness, your intuitive and healing abilities, and your life through medical intuitive self-assessment. It utilizes her exclusive method—the method Laura uses in her private medical intuitive consultations.”  I thought some of you would like to know about it. It’s online. How easy is that? And she has a special price to introduce it and I know you will get ten times the value or more over the cost. Laura gives more than 100% so you can count on this being high quality and effective.

Kamm CD2No, she didn’t tell me to write that. She doesn’t even know I’m writing this article. I’ll send her an email and tell her I did it. My thinking is this: When a woman (or man, for that matter) with remarkable gifts wants to share those gifts, then it is my responsibility to let as many people as possible know about it.  I consider myself blessed to have her as one of my dearest friends.

You can find her website and all the information about her books, CDs and this remarkable on line course at http://www.energymedicine.org/ //www.energymedicine.org/

Energy Medicine and It’s Uses

b841By Robin Brain

The human body is an electromagnetic unit. Electricity makes the heart beat and muscles expand and contract, and fires impulses across tiny fibers in the nervous system to make possible our every thought, mood, and physical reaction. Energy medicine, or vibrational medicine, is a form of therapy in which the patient’s own electromagnetic, or energy, field is used to promote wellness or healing. Energy medicine consists of a variety of therapeutic modalities, each of which has its own healing frequency, or energetic waveband.

Throughout history, the peoples of many nations have used various forms of vibrational energy for healing. Most traditional cultures identify some form of a basic life force flowing from a universal creator. In China it’s called chi; in ancient Greece, pneuma; in India, prana; in Japan, qi. To the native peoples of the North American continent, this force is known as the flow of spirit. To all these peoples, the life force is the basis of physical, psychological, and spiritual health. These subtle, unseen energies are incorporated in the therapeutic vibrational methods of the different modalities, as healers work to enhance or rebalance this life force, strengthening it where it’s weak, and modulating it where it’s excessive.

One popular form of energy medicine works with the patient’s aura. The aura, or auric field, reflects how one’s life is being lived at the moment of observance. The vibration, color, and sound of the aura are all interrelated and represent a means of determining the frequency of energy in the auric field. A healer chan neling energy to a client will often experience reactions in his own body; for example, he may feel a vibration, “see” the color of the energy, or “hear” a sound he associates with a particular color or feeling (a phenomenon known as clairaudience). There are seven layers of the auric field.

The etheric body or layer is joined directly to the physical body, from which it extends outward 2 to 6 inches; it is referred to as “etheric double” because it contains a blueprint as well as replications of all the organs in the physical form.

The emotional body is the wellspring from which all our emotions, desires, joys, pains, sufferings, and passions emerge. Beliefs, perceptions, attitudes, and emotions particularly fearaffect the body through the nervous, endocrine, muscular, and immune systems; they can change the field or cause it to shut down.

The mental body is responsible for rational, clear, and intellectual functions. It’s responsible for the conscious (that which we are aware of) and the unconscious (that which has been repressed or forgotten and exists just beneath the surface of consciousness) mind, as well as memories.

The astral body bridges dimensions of matter and spirit and is transitional between the first and last auric bodies. The astral body contains the entire personality and contains all the extraordinary abilities intuition, extrasensory perception, image projection, spiritual sight, and clairvoyance-as well as compassion for others.

The causal, or second etheric, body is the first layer of the spiritual realm, which contains the knowledge of the individual’s purpose in life, his talents, and the lessons he must learn during the course of his lifetime.

The celestial body is the site of clear vision, in the spiritual sense of individual future, and is believed to contain a love that surpasses human love. It influences sight and other manifestations of visualization insight, foresight, inspiration, clairvoyance, and physical manifestation. It’s sometimes erroneously called the third eye.

The spiritual and cosmic consciousness, also called the ketheric layer or body, is said to be in direct contact with the divine universe; it’s the body’s energetic blueprint. It is also a center of knowing without thought or reason. Our spiritual life resides here.

The auric fields are created and controlled by the chakras. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “wheel” or “circle of movemene” The chakras are spirals of concentrated life force or vortices of energy. They’re arrayed in a straight line at the center of the body, with the energy vortices of the second through the sixth extending out the front and back. The root chakra points downward, and the crown chakra points upward. In the northern hemisphere, healthy chakras spin in a clockwise direction, facing the front of a person. South of the equator, chakras spin in a counterclockwise direction. The direction of radiation, shape and diameter of a chakra indicate the state of its energy and the health of the corresponding or adjacent physical or gans.

Six secondary chakras are located in the palms of the hands, backs of the knees, and soles of the feet near the arches. There are twenty smaller tertiary chakras located on the tips of the fingers and toes. The second and third chakras in the hands are used to direct energy during healing practices; the second and third chakras in the feet are used to ground the healer while performing healing activities. Additionally, minor chakras are designated anteriorly over both hip joints, tips of the shoulder, and elbows.

Another type of energy medicine is non-local healing, in which the practitioner may be at some distance from the person to be healed. Non-local healing includes prayer, empathetic concern, and distant intentionality, in which healing thoughts and vibrations are sent to the person in need.

Reported uses

Energy medicine may be used in conjunction with a more traditional regimen to facilitate treatment of anemias, cancer, arthritis, colitis, Alzheimer’s, inflammatory diseases, hypertension and heart disease, cellular diseases, viral diseases, over doses, and fractures. Energy therapy isn’t effective with genetic diseases.
