It’s a tough and demanding world out there so how do you stay calm and composed and in control in this environment. Mixing with negative people will pull you down and destroy your self-esteem. Don’t let these people destroy you. Here are 5 things you should do to prevent this from happening and go along way in improving your self-esteem.
1. Protect yourself from other people’s behaviour
Stay away from petty and negative people. These are the people who always complain about everything and mixing with these types of people will only drag you down to their level and ruin your self esteem.
2. Adapt to a changing environment
Changes challenge our belief system and the way we do things. These are known as paradigms. These changes will test are adaptability and the way we think. We have to move with change and be able to have a positive understanding that it will help us improve ourselves. We will have many changes throughout our lives and we must be ready and prepare for them if we have the desire to improving our self-esteem.
3. Treat failure as a lesson.
We will all experience pain in our life but don’t let this pain transform itself into fear. Treat each failure as a lesson learnt. Remember, if you get knocked down, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and move on.
4. Avoid the negative view of the world.
Control what enters your mind about the news in the world today. Don’t wrap yourself up with all the negatives.
5. You have your own identity
Your identity is made up of what and who you feel you are and how you are perceived by other people. Your behavioural traits are conditioned by your inherited traits, the way you are brought up and your surroundings.
You have the choice to be positive, people were not born positive. It has been said that babies only have two fears in their early life. Fear of loud noises and fear of falling. Their other traits are imbedded in them through their life through their families. For example, a Dad may say to a child ‘you are not good enough to go to university. If this is said over a period of time the child will believe it. Remember you are good enough if you repeat it to yourself and take the actions to realise it. You need to change three things: Attitude, behaviour and way of thinking.
We have to become responsible for who we are. Improving self-esteem means we have to take control and then you make things happen. Your road to developing your self esteem can be easily started by doing two thinks. Remain positive and be happy.
