Here are five things you can do right now to make your life an adventure.

1. Go bungee jumping.

2. Run in front of the bulls in Spain

3. Date 3 women (or guys) at the same time

4. Jump out of a plane and hope your parachute works

5. Sing on American Idol — with my voice– yikes!!

I realize that some of the above activities are adventures for a few of you (or misadventures) but I am talking to the majority of us for whom this list is just not our idea of adventure.

What I am referring to in this article are the everyday things you could do to shake things up a bit. The majority of the population are like the song: ” He gets up in the morning, goes to work by 9…. he’s a well respected man about town, doing the best things so conservatively.” Most of us are routinized by our roles and responsibilities and we can pay a heavy price for that at times.

Now of course, some of us thrive and are quite happy with the predictability and security of it all. Others are bored senseless. Which is why they compensate with excessive eating, drinking, drugs, 50+hrs of TV a week etc. anything to break up the boredom of same old same old, day in day out. I heard a stat recently that 3 out of 4 people would change jobs or careers for something more gratifying or rewarding. That is a telling statistic.

So for the 3 out of 4 club, what can you do to shake things up a bit.

1. Look at the possibility of a career or job change. At least research what your options are. There are a ton or resources online and off to assist you. You can do this right now with minimal time and effort.

Even if you enjoy what you are currently doing, ask yourself how can you branch out in your existing career or job, more training, job transfer, courses. Get looking and get going.

2. Consider starting an online business and building a second income over time and start planning for that vacation you “can’t afford.” Again a ton of resource online to assist you in getting started. Find something that really interests you.

3. To get rid of the “stickin thinkin” that holds you back try this. Close your eyes, take a few slow deep breaths, quiet your mind and allow yourself total relaxation for a few minutes and then see what your intuition, that inner voice that we should listen to more often, has to say. Ask yourself in this state of calm, what you should do, what would be the best course of action to take right now and then listen for answers.
