5 Wisest Ways in Dealing with Life Changes

Dealing with Life Changes and Winning the Battle

Change is permanent. Whether you’re relocating to a new place, getting married, breaking up with a girl, or working for a new job, change is always present at your doorstep. Some changes in life may bring a little joy, but some can be completely stressful.

However good or bad these changes are, always choose to carry on, move forward, and face a new day with a fresh start. Sure, change can make you feel overwhelmed and frightened, but you can also always choose to respond positively. Here are certain things you can start following to handle and withstand the different changes in your life.

Accept, reflect, but never forget.

Allow changes to flow. Yes, life can be unpredictable and full of grief, anger, and even regrets. But to embrace change is to transform yourself, to grow together with the pain of loss and the ruthlessness of life. Remember that this change is indeed a transition to a different phase of yourself.

Let yourself grieve on the aches and sorrows. Weep and let go to what’s beyond your control. You can’t stop a surging torrent, but you can always learn from the experience to make things easier.

Keep a gratitude journal.

life changesEnjoy small goals with small victories. The fact that you can’t really avoid negative changes and that some good times won’t last can cause depression and stress. But through highlighting the positive moments each day, you can continue your day with ease.

Understand that life gives you highs and lows. Appreciate the roller coaster ride, practice positive thinking, and write something positive to every life’s moment.

Be kind to yourself.

There are definitely moments you are going to fail, but it doesn’t mean it’s the end. Don’t exhaust yourself too much. If you don’t succeed, don’t try to beat yourself out of it. Be gentle with yourself and handle stress properly.

Reward yourself once you’ve overcome something. Take a walk to a park or go to a quiet place and relax your mind for a while. Or have a cold beer—it won’t hurt you either.

Practice mindfulness and self-talk.

Be aware of how you think and react to a particular situation in life. Why do you feel that way? Learn how to control your emotions, and realize if your responses to these situations are absurd or completely out of track. As much as possible, minimize bad feelings and focus on growing yourself.

Always listen to yourself. Often times, you know what you have to do, you just don’t’ have the courage to take action and conquer these major life changes.

Ask for a shoulder to lean on.

Call a friend or a family member. Seek help. There is always someone who cares for you and would really want to listen. Asking for help is normal, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.The changes in your life may make or break you. Choose to be on the brighter side of things. And think that in the long run, these changes will make you become the better version of yourself.

Great post. I think it can be tough to be kind to yourself – but it’s good to keep it in mind. I like the idea of a gratitude journal too.
