If you aren’t driving as part of work, it’s likely you still spend a good amount of time commuting back and forth so this information may still be important for you to know. If you do drive for work, a majority of your time is likely  spent behind the wheel, so it’s crucial to pay close attention to the way you sit. Having bad posture while you drive can increase your risk of getting into an accident and for back and neck pain.

When sitting behind the wheel, you’ll want your chair positioned so that your feet hit the pedals comfortably. Angle your seat to a comfortable position for both your feet and back. Utilize the headrest and have your tailbone against the seat back. Some people benefit from adding a lumbar support cushion for extra support.

If you work in an office, chances are you’ll be spending most of your day sitting at a desk. Since office jobs often require little movement, you risk potential health problems later on. When you bend down, do so with your knees and hips rather than the back. Keep your back straight and your abdomen tight and lift using your legs. By doing all of this, you can potentially alleviate some of the strain placed on your back and upper body.

Standing on your feet all day can impact your body. Standing for a long time is already exhausting as it is, so taking preventative measures to reduce the pain can be of great benefit.

To ease the strain, wear supportive shoes when you know you’ll be standing for long periods of time. Pulling your shoulders back, keeping your head level, and tightening your abdominals is important. Also, remember to avoid locking your knees when standing. This can mess with your blood flow, even causing you to faint.
