Life is Too Short to Be a Perfectionist!

Being a perfectionist is one of the most elusive attributes there is in the life experience. Many seek it and yet, one has to ask is all this pursuit of perfection practical? Many believe it is, and say that they stand for something more in life than the average man does. Surely this sounds noble and makes sense to some degree, and yet something about it sounds arrogant, and even over the top.

Why do you suppose this is? Not long ago a gentleman asked me; “So are you a perfectionist too, are you?” After considering this and in a stroke of reality check, I said; “No, really don’t have time to be a perfectionist, but at a few of my hobbies, I’ve found it is a lot safer, and luckily “I am still alive” to tell about it. Motorcycle racing for instance, if you screw up, you’ll be sorry.”

Seeking perfection is fine unless it keeps you from your ultimate goal, for instance winning a contest, meeting a deadline or writing something of extreme importance. Some poets, song writers, and authors get into a terrible problem when they seek perfection.

Innovators and inventors also often fail to ever bring their creations forward, as they work so very hard towards that final percent of perfection, perfection that ultimately is completely unattainable, or so costly in time and money, it makes the whole concept of perfection completely irrelevant.

Let me make a recommendation to you; never let perfection keep you from your goals and dreams. Always move towards perfection, but do not make that you end game. Please consider this and how it applies to you.
