Sleep Damn It! – All About Insomnia

Are you one of the people that struggle for hours and hours to get to sleep at night even if they are extremely tired? Do you ever wake up in the night, and lie awake for hours on end watching the clock trying desperately to sleep, getting more anxious by the minute? If this is like you, you are not alone!

Many people unwittingly suffer from insomnia, it’s quite common. I understand how frustrating it can be to lie awake in your bed at night, only to wake up to the sound of your alarm with tired eyes and a fatigued body.

Suffering from insomnia can have a big effect on your mood and your ability to function properly throughout your waking hours. Health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and many others have been associated with insomnia, as these can often contribute to these problems. However you do not have to live with the effects of insomnia. Making simple changes to your routines and lifestyles can make a drastic difference to your sleeping cycles and restless nights.

Insomnia is basically defined as the inability to get right amount of sleep required during the night so that you awake feeling refreshed and energized. Because everybody is different, everybody needs a different amount of sleep. Insomnia is no quantified by how your body feels after waking, not how many hours sleep you get overnight. If you are spending at least eight hours a night in bed and feel exhausted during the day you may be experiencing the phenomenon known as insomnia

Insomnia is not a simple disorder of sleep. Insomnia is usually a symptom of all the underlying problems such as stress or anxiety you may experience. It can even be as simple as smoking too many cigarettes or having a high caffeine intake. However it can also be related to underlying medical problems.

Insomnia, however bad it may seem can usually be cured with simple changes to your lifestyle and your daily routines. This is good news if you’re worried about having to see sleep specialist or using prescription drugs.

In order for you to get to the bottom of your sleeping problems and insomnia, you need to investigate your sleep. If you are having underlying issues such as stress and anxiety in your life, this may be the cause. Is a good idea to spend some time identifying all of the things which may cause your sleepless nights. Once you figure out what the problem is you can usually find a quick remedy to cure them.
